We took the kids to Boo at the zoo last night. It was really disappointing. All the animals were put away for the night, so we basically paid $10 a person to go trick or treating and see neat sets and props. The kids had fun, but it just wasn’t what I had expected for the cost.
Quinn found Johanna’s old 3 wheel rollerblades/skates in the garage yesterday. He is surprisingly good on the carpet, so today he wanted to take to the sidewalks. My ankle is bruised from getting kicked, but other than that we did pretty well. He won’t be solo for a while yet, though.
Quinn’s teacher relayed a story about snack time yesterday.
All the kids were showing their belly buttons and saying “I have a belly button!” “I have a belly button, too!” My boy says, “I have a penis!” Then the conversation went down hill and had to have intervention to end the insanity.
Oliver showed up completely covered in ash last night. I really wanted to bring him in for the night, but we don’t have a good place to keep him away from the other cats. This afternoon the barranca behind our house caught fire. The fire fighters put it out quickly and are watching it carefully now. My worry is that oliver lives in that barranca and where is he going to go tonight to be safe. He will lick all the ash and ingest it, not to mention breathing it and living in it. Poor kitty.
the kids were watching a music video with nathan. one of the lines says, “yo wolf face, your ass is mine.” Joey says, “Why does he say, ‘your house is mine?’” Awww innocence is not lost; yet.
For Johanna’s 4th birthday (March ‘06) she had a fish party. We got her a fish tank, and bought enough little goldfish and mini tanks for each of her friends to take home a fish. After the party she got to keep the last 3 goldfish and she got to pick out four new fish for her tank. We got 2 guppies, which have demonstrated the circle of life very well, and two sucker fish. The goldfish and one sucker died within the first few months, the guppies have spawned so many tines I don’t even know what generation we are on, but today the last sucker fish took his last breath. So long Suck, you have done your job well!
My dad’s surgery went well. It took less than 2 hours, and the doctor came out saying everything worked out as planned. Hopefully, the recovery will go much more quickly than last time, and this will be then end of my dad’s pain.
