Today was Joey’s first soccer practice. She did pretty good. Most of the other girls have played at least one year and she has never played, so I think she kept up pretty well. Accept for the part where she sat down in the middle of the team scrimmage and started picking clovers while the ball whizzed past her head unnoticed. Well, I guess we have some work to do and some laziness to deal with. Good times.
Were are heading to Portland tomorrow to spend a week visit various friends and family. Shaft is spending the week with nathan’s parents so they can keep an eye on him and my mom is coming to feed the other cat, fish, and guinea pig. So loose ends have been tied, laundry is done, the kids are in bed, all I have to do is finish packing and sleep. Wish us well and pray the cat does okay while we are gone.
The vet gave shaft a steroid shot, antibiotics, and IV fluids with the hopes that he would perk up over night. If he didn’t, we would likely have to put him down. This morning I woke up expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised with a hungry kitty. He ate some food drank some water and even peed in the liter box! What a good boy. More fluids and drugs this afternoon and he seems to be on the up and up.
We don’t know what is wrong, but it doesn’t look good.
Nathan sent me a text that he needed all new brakes costing $450.
Two minutes later he sent a text that someone had called about buying our washer/dryer.
An hour later, they were sold.
Thanks God for always providing for us!
We are still unpacking bit by bit. Yesterday we at least made our way into the kitchen and bathroom boxes, so we can eat and clean ourselves. Clothes are also unpacked and more or less put away so we can dress. TV and Wii and of course internet are installed, working, or otherwise entertaining us. We said our final goodbye to the old house Wednesday night around 10pm, Oliver included. I cried, Joey sobbed as we drove past him on the way down the street.
Fun stuff: Quinn is now peddling his big bike with training wheels, Joey is VERY close to riding her bike sans training wheels, the kids switched beds so Quinn is on the top bunk and Joey on the bottom, and Quinn has slept through the night all but one night that we have been in the new house! I don’t think I ever mentioned it before, but we are taking care of the school guinea pig for the summer. His name is Latte and he is the sweetest guinea pig I have ever known.
One of these days when ALL the boxes are unpacked we will have some sort of house warming party and invite y’all over, or you can just show up randomly and surprise us.
We are packing during the day on Friday and loading the truck and moving on Sunday. Come on over and help out!! Free beer and pizza for hard workers
We are officially moving into 900 square feet plus a 1 car detached garage. We are leaving a 1200sqft 2 car attached garage. Crazy? Maybe. Good for us? Definitely. Now we just have to weed through everything and sell it all.
Saturday 7-2 our upstairs neighbor is having a garage sale, so we are attempting to join in on the fun. Come by and buy stuff, say hi or bring us sustenance. All are welcome!
After way too much hard work and many trips to Africa to hang out with baboons, my sister received her PhD and was hooded tonight at UCLA.
When I met my parents and brother-in-law before the ceremony, they handed me an ultrasound picture. I am going to be an auntie at the end of January!!!!
Way to go Becky! I love you.
